Happy Wheels has arrived just in time, as the unfortunate and blasphemous decline of Flash technology is imminent. That was a real nail-biter! We apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope that the anxiety over losing Flash didn’t disturb your sleep. If you weren’t aware that this development was underway, here’s some exciting news: this marks the game’s first public release. As such, please bear with us as we work through any remaining bugs.
While I still favor Flash, I have to admit that this version works remarkably well on mobile devices. Currently, however, there are no on-screen controls for mobile gameplay—these will be added in the next update. Thank you for your patience! If you’re eager to try it out on your phone right now, a Bluetooth keyboard can serve as an excellent alternative.
Although I initially stated that the game would run at 60 frames per second, some of the more challenging levels may run a bit slower at this framerate. Fortunately, the option to enable 60 FPS is already available in settings. I might even host a dedicated 60 Hz version on a separate page for users with high-performance CPUs.
Rest assured, Happy Wheels JS aims to be a faithful recreation of the original in both design and gameplay. The user database, levels, and replays remain intact since the initial release. The only thing that has vanished is the impending doom of the universe’s end.
